There are many fishing opportunities nearby or why not take a stroll on Ballydonegan Bay or take the cable car to Dursey Island. There is a horse riding centre close to this Allihies cottage as well as a number of art galleries. The towns of Castletownbeare, Bantry and Glengarriff are within easy driving distance offering many pubs and bars where a friendly local welcome is assured. The village of Allihies in County Cork sits on the Western tip of the Beara peninsula, in a region of unspoiled natural beauty. The village lies on The Ring of Beara, a tourist trail of about 195 kilometres (121 miles) circumnavigating the peninsula. Attractions nearby include Dursey Island, which is linked to the mainland by a Cable Car and is the only such ride in Europe to cross over water. The island is also a recognised Bird Sanctuary, with numerous species, rare and otherwise, seen regularly.
