A handy cloakroom completes the ground floor, whilst on the first floor is a family shower room and three comfy bedrooms including an en-suite family room. Outside, you can enjoy the late afternoon sunshine in the shared grounds, or set yourself up for the day with a sunny alfresco breakfast on the patio. The owner is a keen angler, and with two boats at his disposal, is happy to take you out on a fishing trip to one of the many local lakes. The village of Ballinamuck, and its range of amenities, is just a short walk from your charming country cottage. Surrounded by attractive scenery dotted with tranquil lakes and low-lying hills, there are plentiful walks and cycling routes to discover practically from the door. Ballinamuck Battle Heritage Centre tells the tale of this ancient village, before enjoying one of the historic walks around the battlefield. Spend the day in Carrick-on-Shannon, a popular inland resort just over half an hour’s drive away, with its vibrant music and arts scene and busy marina where you’ll find excellent restaurants. With plentiful activities and attractions to suit all ages within easy reach, including horse riding, golf, archery and a whole range of watersports to enjoy, this welcoming holiday promises a perfect base for an active getaway. The village of Ballinamuck is situated in the north of County Longford. Literally translated to ‘mouth of the ford of the pig’, Ballinamuck is a wonderful area to discover the mass of farmland, lakes, hills and pristine boglands and was once the site of the Battle of Ballinamuck, with a local heritage centre housing an interesting exhibition. Fishing, cycling and walking are very popular in this region, with endless miles of unspoilt countryside to discover and explore.
