These two characterful cottages have been lovingly restored and are located in the quaint historic village of Crondall, near Farnham, close to the friendly pub and village store. Located almost opposite one another, Eglantine and Sweet Briar make the ideal base for friends or families. Each offers well presented, warm and welcoming holiday accommodation, tastefully styled and comfortably furnished throughout. Eglantine has an open plan living/dining room with a lovely inglenook fireplace and gas wood burner. There is also a galley style kitchen with walk-in pantry, and a bathroom on the ground floor. Upstairs there is a kingsize bedroom which also has a z-bed for a child, plus a single bed which is sectioned off from the landing by a curtain. The delightful, large lawned garden with sitting-out area has borders of trees and plants, and overlooks the surrounding fields. Sweet Briar is located at the end of a terraced row, next door to the friendly pub and has an open plan living/dining room with a lovely open fire and polished wood flooring. The kitchen has a high vaulted beamed ceiling and there is a bathroom on the ground floor. Upstairs there is a kingsize bedroom plus a twin bedroom. The pretty enclosed lawned garden has a sitting-out area and barbecue.
There is so much to see and do in this area. Farnham is only a 5-minute drive away, with the mainline station to London, or to the south, as well as Farnham Maltings, a cultural organisation with theatre and dance productions, pottery, art, textiles and photography. Farnham Caste, Museum, Frensham ponds, Waverley Abbey with England’s first Cistercian abbey, Hogs Back Brewery Tours, Rural Life Centre and Birdworld which are all close by.
You can find scenic walks in the nearby South Downs National Park, Alice Holt Forest Woods and Chawton, here you will also find Jane Austen’s House Museum, where she wrote a number of her greatest works. Portsmouth, with its historic dockyard, Spinnaker Tower, the D-Day and Royal Marines Museums, Gunwharf Quay, waterside dining and shopping outlets, is just a 45-minute drive away, as is Chichester, with its ornate cathedral, festival theatre, cinema, Goodwood Races and Fontwell Races.
Alresford is a short drive away, with the Watercress Line steam railway, where visitors can enjoy a delightful trip on an old steam train, which stops at various stations along the way. Also worth a visit, is the market town of Petersfield with a mainline station, and Winchester, with its cathedral, Guildhall Water Meadows and Intech Science Centre and Planetarium. Marwell Wildlife Park and The Queen Elizabeth Country Park at Horndean, which has 1,400 acres of woodland and downland, and are only 9 miles away. The beaches at Wittering and Hayling are a 50-minute drive, and sailing in the Solent is possible from numerous marinas in the area.
