Guest Comments

“As usual we have had an excellent stay, the cottage is in an ideal location, with lots of walks on the doorstep.”

Joanne, September 2020

“Excellent all round. Gave score of 8 for local amenities as only one Pub/restaurant within walking distance which we highly recommend.”

Marsh, September 2020

“Lovely cottage with an owner who was interested to ensure that we were enjoying ourselves. Beautiful walled garden and a very well equipped property.”

Graham, September 2020

“The quality of the accommodation is one of the best if not the best we’ve ever stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble for the property owner either. It is very well equipped and to a very high standard. This location is perfect for peace and quiet, walks along a former railway and there is an excellent pub / restaurant very close to the accommodation. Would definitely recommend.”

Paul, September 2020

“Best cottage I’ve ever stayed in!”

Mk, September 2020

“A wonderful cottage with lovely grounds and picturesque walks nearby. The cottage was well equipped, modern and comfortable. We will most definitely be returning.”

Robert, September 2020

“Cottage was excellent and the walled garden was beautiful. Very relaxing and quiet.”

Peter, August 2020

“We had a fantastic week in Garden Cottage. The cottage was incredibly clean, well appointed and had everything that we needed. The view from the cottage is spectacular and we had two great meals at the White Lion. The walk along the disused railway line is recommended – would be excellent for cycling too. The walled garden is an additional bonus – it is very beautiful. Hayling Island, Witterings and Portsmouth are all within easy reach;. Would definitely recommend this cottage.”

Keith, July 2020

“Excellent sized property with all the amenities and comforts we could ask for. Stunning garden area and views from cottage. Would very happily stay again.”

Craig, July 2020

“An amazing quiet getaway. Spotlessly clean, lovely views plenty to see and do in the local area. Very safe and dog friendly. Owners were very helpful. Would definitely book again.”

Liane, March 2020

“We really can’t recommend Garden Cottage highly enough having spent Christmas and New Year there. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully equipped and very spacious. A real bonus was the dog secure garden and courtyard, not to mention a lovely field in which to walk your canine companion. Gill also thoughtfully supplies throws for the sofas and treats and bowls for doggy use. The kitchen has everything you could wish for. The bathroom was gorgeous with a choice of shower or bath. Hot water came through immediately. The shared Boot Room was enormously useful for wet and muddy kit whilst the Laundry Room (which also houses the freezer) was fitted out thoughtfully with every need catered for. The Walled Garden is rightly for humans only! I am looking forward to seeing how that will evolve. There is ample walking right from the door. The 11 mile former railway is excellent but there are also myriad footpaths to explore. The coast is also easily accessible. The local pub, the White Lion serves fabulous food and the bar is dog friendly too. It is a five minute walk from the cottage. The property is very quiet and often the only sound was from the birds, especially the resident tawny owls. The cottage owners, Gill snd Trevor could not be more helpful. Frankly we can’t wait to to return!”

Dorothy, January 2020

Sarah, December 2019

“Fantastic stay!! A little piece of heaven. The best holiday let I have stayed in. The quality is outstanding in the cottage with everything that you could possibly need. The surroundings of the cottage are beautiful with an amazing walled garden. Completely dog friendly and beautiful walks on the doorstep. Lovely welcome gifts for both humans and dogs. The hosts are amazing and cannot do enough for you during your stay. I would 100% recommend to anyone who wants escape the hustle and bustle of life for a bit. Thank you Gill/Trevor looking forward to coming back.”

Please bear in mind property owners/agents are dealing with an unprecedented level of demand for holidays at the moment, which is making them slower than normal to reply to enquiries and answer calls. They may also be operating a priority system with enquiries for coming weeks being answered first. This being said, they are all committed to answering every enquiry as soon as they are able to.

COVID-19 Information

This information is provided by the property’s owner or manager and is relevant to this property ONLY:

“You will be able to choose any one of the following three options if we or the accommodation provider cancel your booking, or if you cancel your booking because UK government public health measures mean that it is unlawful to travel to or make use of the accommodation you booked:
Full refund – we will refund you the full amount you have paid for your booking.
Transfer to a later date or different accommodation – subject to availability, we will help you move your booking to a later date or even a new location or accommodation with no admin fees, but please be aware that if the cost of your new accommodation is higher than your original booking, then you’ll need to pay the difference.
Choose an e-voucher to rebook your holiday online – you can request an e-voucher for the amount you have previously paid for your booking. You can then use it to book a new holiday online or towards another existing booking, without having to call us. Vouchers issued in 2020 are valid until 31st December 2020 and can be used on holidays departing before 31st December 2021.
Plus, to give our customers the added flexibility they need at this time, for any bookings with arrival dates on or before 31 December 2020, the following applies:
Pay for your 2020 break just 3 weeks before you go – to give you more time to pay for your holiday during these uncertain times, we’ve moved the balance due date for bookings with arrival dates up to 31st December 2020 to just 21 days before your holiday is due to start. If you choose to cancel your holiday before your balance due date, then we will waive your liability for the remainder of the balance and no further amount will be collected from you. If you choose to cancel on or after your balance due date, then you will need to pay the cancellation charges (according to the number of days before the start of your holiday) as set out in the cancellation charges table which you can find in your booking conditions, as well as any applicable booking fees, admin charges or insurance premiums that you owe. See booking conditions here.
*If you have booked a property that is stated to sleep 10 people or more and your booking begins between 1 September and 31 December 2020, your balance due date will remain at 12 weeks prior to the holiday start date as set out in the booking conditions.”
