. Steeped in history, this imposing, detached holiday cottage dates back to 1888 and was originally the residence of a former sea commander. Many original features are still evident, with a wood-panelled entrance hall, stripped wood flooring and cast-iron fireplaces throughout adding to the charm and character of this beautiful property, which makes the perfect place for a family get-together. Huge comfortable sofas and armchairs adorn each floor, with quiet reading corners looking out over open countryside to the front, and picture windows to the rear affording stunning sea views across the pretty gardens down to Robin Hoods Bay. Fylingthorpe sits at the top of the ancient fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay where visitors step back in time as they follow the row of tumbling fisherman’s cottages and the cobbled streets (lined with curio shops, tea rooms, inns and restaurants) down to the sandy little cove. The historic Port of Whitby – where Captain James Cook set sail from on his epic journey of discovery – is but a 10-minute drive. Here the colourful promenade leads to a 3-mile stretch of award-winning sandy beach. The North York Moors steam train can be boarded to discover some of Yorkshire’s finest scenery as it chugs its way through the beautiful Esk valley into the famous village of Goathland – renowned for its connections with TV’s Heartbeat. A little further south of the village is the elegant seaside town of Scarborough. Golfing, fishing, sea trips, cycle and walking tracks are all available locally. Shops 150 yards, pubs and restaurants 100 yards.

“Perfect family holiday. Fabulous location close to all amenities”

Jan, September 2019

“Fabulous, large , comfortable and warm house, with all the equipment we needed, except perhaps a extra large saucepan. The garden was also great, with nice outdoor seating and furniture. Views to the cliffs and sea. Very close to Robin Hood’s bay, cinder track and bus stop. Also useful village shop very near with long opening hours. Large family friendly pub with food and beer garden.”

Richard, February 2019

“This is a great place to stay for a big group of people – loads of space, really well equipped, warm and comfortable. Added to that, it’s an interesting and unusual building, with some superb views and a lovely garden. Very easy to get to (if you disregard the GPS location we were given!) as it’s on the main road, with parking space. And Robin Hood’s Bay is just around the corner. Can’t fault it”

Simon, December 2018

Please bear in mind property owners/agents are dealing with an unprecedented level of demand for holidays at the moment, which is making them slower than normal to reply to enquiries and answer calls. They may also be operating a priority system with enquiries for coming weeks being answered first. This being said, they are all committed to answering every enquiry as soon as they are able to.

COVID-19 Information

This information is provided by the property’s owner or manager and is relevant to this property ONLY:

“You will be able to choose any one of the following three options if we or the accommodation provider cancel your booking, or if you cancel your booking because UK government public health measures mean that it is unlawful to travel to or make use of the accommodation you booked:
Full refund – we will refund you the full amount you have paid for your booking.
Transfer to a later date or different accommodation – subject to availability, we will help you move your booking to a later date or even a new location or accommodation with no admin fees, but please be aware that if the cost of your new accommodation is higher than your original booking, then you’ll need to pay the difference.
Choose an e-voucher to rebook your holiday online – you can request an e-voucher for the amount you have previously paid for your booking. You can then use it to book a new holiday online or towards another existing booking, without having to call us. Vouchers issued in 2020 are valid until 31st December 2020 and can be used on holidays departing before 31st December 2021.
Plus, to give our customers the added flexibility they need at this time, for any bookings with arrival dates on or before 31 December 2020, the following applies:
Pay for your 2020 break just 3 weeks before you go – to give you more time to pay for your holiday during these uncertain times, we’ve moved the balance due date for bookings with arrival dates up to 31st December 2020 to just 21 days before your holiday is due to start. If you choose to cancel your holiday before your balance due date, then we will waive your liability for the remainder of the balance and no further amount will be collected from you. If you choose to cancel on or after your balance due date, then you will need to pay the cancellation charges (according to the number of days before the start of your holiday) as set out in the cancellation charges table which you can find in your booking conditions, as well as any applicable booking fees, admin charges or insurance premiums that you owe. See booking conditions here.
*If you have booked a property that is stated to sleep 10 people or more and your booking begins between 1 September and 31 December 2020, your balance due date will remain at 12 weeks prior to the holiday start date as set out in the booking conditions.”
