Stunning Castleton Place to Stay

Experience the wild beauty of the North York Moors with your special person when you stay at this charming cottage in Castleton. Sleeping just two guests, the two-bedroom, semi-detached retreat sits at the heart of the village, which is surrounded by the national park and is 16 miles from the coast at historic Whitby.

Step into the 18th-century, stone cottage to find yourselves in a gorgeous, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With its flagstone floor, bay window and beamed ceiling, this character-laden space offers a warm embrace from the moment you enter. Light a fire in the wood burner on crisp days to enhance the romantic ambience. Unpack the Yorkshire provisions you have bought over in the kitchen area, then prepare tasty meals for each other whenever you choose not to dine out. Set the table for two and pop open a bottle of wine. While away your evenings snuggled up together on the plush velvet sofa in front of the Smart TV or curled up in the window seat with a good book. When you are ready to turn in for the night, climb the stairs to the first floor of your holiday hideaway to enjoy a superb night’s sleep in the delightful double bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room. Carry your first cup of tea of the day out into the pretty front garden on summer mornings. Relax on the bench and watch the world go by as you make plans for your day. Parking for this cottage is on the street, subject to availability.

Climb up to Danby Beacon, 3.5 miles away, to take in the panoramic views. This landmark dates back to the 1600s when Britain was under threat of invasion from France. Plan a day trip to picture-postcard Robin Hood’s Bay, 21.5 miles away, on the coast.
