Threlkeld is a small village just off the A66, which is the main route between Penrith and Keswick. Almost directly opposite is Keswick Golf Club, so if you fancy a round while you’re away, you could not be much closer. The quaint village of Scales, along with a couple of local pubs offering great food and local cask ales, is just a mile away. The lodge is just 5 miles from the vibrant Lake District town of Keswick, which is brimming with great restaurants, pubs serving local craft ales, an excellent range of shopping experiences and some memorable tourist attractions. If you fancy something a bit different, then why not visit The Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the world’s largest pencil. Also within easy reach is Puzzling Place, which is full of mind-boggling optical illusions. If you like culture, you could try the Theatre by the Lake, with its enviable position on the shores of Derwentwater, which offers award-winning performances in drama and arts.

If you like walking or cycling, you are surrounded by some of the most challenging fells in the area, as well as a number of less challenging walking routes suitable for people who like sightseeing without the strain. Keswick is at the northern end of Derwentwater, one of the area’s iconic lakes, and offers a great base and starting point for many an adventure. You can tick off a few of Wainwright’s 214 Lakeland Fells, including Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn within a few miles’ radius. Whatever the reason for your visit, Harrison’s Lodge offers a great base, inspiring surroundings and a touch of quirkiness to make your next Lake District getaway one to remember. Shop 4½ miles, pub ¾ mile and restaurant 1¼ miles.

“I would give 10 if there was no any problem in the bathroom drainage as it takes ages to drain the water from shower and the water from basin goes to the bathroom too. I think it needs to be fixed. Overall everything was very good. I really enjoyed.”

“Myself and my fiance stayed for 3 nights in Harrisons lodge, and can honestly say the accommodation surpassed our expectations. The lodge was fully modernised and set in a stunning location. Clean throughout with everything you need for a breakaway. There is ample parking at the top of the accommodation so had no issues with this. A great base for exploring the Lakes, we are already looking to rebook for next year”

“Stayed there twice now great location for walks only down fall is the road noise but with the stunning views you soon forget about it nice pub with friendly staff and good food 5 minute walk away ”

“Great accommodation. Clean and comfortable. Everything needed for a short break (apart from no socket near the mirror for a hair dryer). Not a lot to do on the site. Just a small kids play area. Good location on the A66 with easy access to the lakes and coast. Three pubs within walking distance. Only ate in the White Horse (Horse and Farrier fully booked) but food was good. Highly recommended.”

“Lovely little lodge perfect for two humans and two dogs. Nice and warm with a great shower! Located about 5 mins from Keswick just off the A66 so perfect for being near to things but quiet and remote. Had a great 4 nights. Will be back!”
