“We had a wonderful New Year break at Castle Hill House. Amazing views, log fire, masses of space for three families and fantastic walking right from the front door. The dishwasher broke right before New Year and Nick came over and plumbed in his own dishwasher as a temporary measure which was incredibly kind. All in all super !”

“An excellent place for a family gathering. The house has a lovely livedin feeling and it felt like home as soon as we walked in the door. It is well equipped and has everything you could reasonably ask for to make the stay comfortable and relaxed. The services heat, hot water etc are generous and more than adequate for large groups. The house is very private, located in a stunning setting at the end of a long drive. There are spectacular views across the countryside, with Sidmouth and the sea visible in the distance. Plenty of good local walking and excellent eateries nearby. The owners were friendly, helpful and professional to deal with.”

“Needed a 6 bed house for a family gathering with a garden, as there were two dogs with us. Castle Hill was perfect, lots of comfortable indoor space and a large garden. The open plan kitchen, dining living area was a very relaxed comfortable space, with a more formal sitting room for peace and quiet and also, a formal dining room if needed. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds really comfy, add in the country quiet and no street light darkness for a perfect nights sleep. The whole house was very clean and all essential supplies provided. The tennis court was an added bonus. Communication with the owners and information provided was excellent and the on site hostmanager was friendly welcoming and ensured we had all we needed for an excellent family holiday. The welcome pack of prosecco, dog treats and milk was much appreciated. The location good for visiting local beaches, towns and countryside. All in all, a super holiday in a lovely house in a beautiful area of the west country.”

“Booked this for a family holiday for 11people . Every year we book a similar place in the UK. This time we have zero complaints. The place is obviously subject to constant TLC. It was comfy well equipped and beautiful. there were views down the long valley to Sidmouth. The local pub a mile away in Sidbury was great. The host Nick was attentive and prompt to answer our questions. Highly recommended!”

“We found Castle Hill house to be immaculately clean with stunning views of the sea and surrounding countryside. It is very spacious both inside and out and it was great to have the use of the tennis court but it does need some maintenance. The house was generally well equipped although a bit short of oven space when cooking a roast for 12 people. More bowls for serving, mixing and microwaving would be useful. The 'oldies' of our party found the television remote something of a mystery to use but, fortunately, twelve year old Charlie always came to the rescue! We had a wonderful holiday so will definitely be returning.”

“Castle Hill House is a lovely place for a family holiday. It is spacious and convenient, with comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms as well as a great family room where we cooked, ate and sat most of the time when we were inside it had ample space for the children to play with lego and cars! The house has a lived in feel that made us all very comfortable. The garden is great place for both children and adults we played badminton on the lawn (wish wed thought to bring a croquet set!) . The views down to Sidford and the sea are gorgeous we spent a good deal of time just sitting and looking. The seaside is easy to get to by car and there are some lovely walks from the house Nick, who looks after the place, gave us some really good suggestions. Thoroughly recommended.”

“Our family had a wonderful week at Castle Hill House. The accommodation suited us perfectly and the location was wonderful, with magnificent views. None of us had ever cooked on an aga before but had a go and cooked all our meals on it croissants could be warmed up in 2 mins! We enjoyed the local area, the coastal walks, paddle boarding at Sidmouth and swimming in the sea which was so refreshing!”

“A fantastic home in a great location. Brilliant for local walks & attractions. The home is stunning, with spectacular views across Sidmouth.”

“Beautiful secluded country house on the hill with views down to Sidmouth and the sea. It has a long private driveway up to it so it felt like we had the hill to ourselves. Kitchen is huge and well equipped; we spent most of our time in the kitchendinerlounge as this was the cosiest part of the house and convenient for all. Big bedrooms upstairs and the bathrooms were modern with good showers. The front lawn was great to sun bath and play cricket. Our dog chases sheep so we were relieved that the surround fields were crops and we could relax and let him wander around freely. Great walks from the house to various locations and pubs and a short drive to the coast. We would definitely recommend this property for a large group.”

“Writing a positive review is such a moral dilemma because you know if you do, you might not get a booking space in future! However, in truth, this extremely spacious but very homely house with its fantastic views and rural location certainly ticked all of the boxes for the perfect holiday for our family and two dogs. Blessed with constant sunshine as well, we were very sad to leave and would definitely love to return. Everything from booking, the info prearrival from Ben, and the care we received from Nick on site was 100%. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Castle Hill House to others.”

“The house is in a beautiful setting with sea views from upstairs and the garden. Nick was a fantastic host as Manager of the property and helped us with takeaway restaurants and checking in to make sure we had all we needed. We played more tennis (well sort of!) than ever which was fun for the kids. A few more things for them to do at the houseoutside would be my only suggestion. Lovely stay, thank you.”
